No wonder the Japanese culture praise the essential part that death plays in life, called Kintsugi. It refers to the act of using gold lacquer to show the glued scraps of a repaired vessel. Instead hiding the broken lines, the brightly coloured gold lacquer emphasizes them. These visible repairs are seen as part of the history of the object. It also symbolizes fragility, strength and beauty. This 'golden repair' is called, Kintsugi. More than physical repair techniques, Kintsugi is seen as a philosophy, applicable to how human lives can change disappointment for mistakes into acceptance of past negative experiences, overcome doubt, and find meaning in the ever-elusive word "happiness".
